Zach's Graduation Day

Congratulations Zachary Nielsen.

John asked me all week how I felt about having our first child graduate from high school. I was so busy planning his party that I hadn't really thought about how I felt about it. That changed when the graduates started down the eisle in their caps and gowns. I was a blubbering baby the rest of the ceremony.

I was trying to get them to look prim and proper. Only the girls cooperated.Zach has requested a party for years. He specifically wanted skittles on every table, punch made out of Vault, and his favorite food-tacos. Here's a few pictures of the party and relatives that came from Minnesota. My Dad and step-mom Barb. It was also their 32nd Anniversary.

Craig Dinsmore, John, and my brother Craig. They all love to tinker with the buttons.

My sister, Dara, and her daughter Brooklyn.

My Mom and sister-in-law Kelly.

We had a wonderful time. We are so very proud of you Zach!

Saturday Morning in the Nielsen House

Saturday mornings are usually way busier than this but for some reason I have time to blog. We're entering into the last week of school and much is buzzing in our house. Sarah had a Jr.High graduation party on Thursday. You can't tell from the pictures but the face painting was really cool with lots of glitter. It still looks good the day after.
Monday night she was jumping on the trampoline and broke her toe. Both John and I were gone with other kids and when we came home she says, "I think I broke my toe". Well, it was pointing in the opposite direction than all the other toes, so I think that assessment was correct. After a 4 hour trip to the ER she has toes that are taped together. Please pray for her, she was about to move up a level in ballet and this will set her back 4 weeks.
The younger girls are painting something this morning. Don't ask what, because I'm not even sure myself.
On this last week of school the older ones will be taking finals and the younger ones will have class as usual. Thursday will be a big all-school picnic and then Friday will be a photography party at our house. Zach hosted a senior brunch here yesterday. Wow, the waffles were great. John had 2 waffle makers going at once keeping up with the demand. Friday night will be a rehearsal for the graduation followed by a special dinner. Then the big day on Saturday with the ceremony and Open House following. We're looking forward to seeing family and friends coming to share the event with Zach. More later!

My Mother's Day Prayer

There are so many different things we teach our kids. We teach them to be polite, to clean their rooms, to be good students. As a mother I've found myself potty training, doing driver's ed, showing them how to cook, sew, paint, plant flowers, remove stains, among a thousand other things. But the one thing I pray today is- Lord, may my children be sensitive to your Holy Spirit. May they hear well from you and have boldness to act out in obedience to you. That is my prayer this Mother's Day.
