Simply Music

John teaches the Simply Music method of piano. Contact him at johnspianostudio@gmail.com

John started taking lessons when he was 6 and took lessons through college.  He's taught piano for over 10 years.  He learned the 'traditional' way (lines, spaces, scales, drills, etc.) and taught the same way because he thought that was the only way to learn the piano!  Then a year ago, a friend introduced him to Simply Music. The easiest way to explain Simply Music is to try to remember back to when you were a child.  Did you learn to read first...or learn to talk first?  Chances are you learned to talk well before you learned to read!  So why is it that when you want to learn the piano, conventional wisdom says you have to learn to read before you learn to play?  Simply Music students develop a repertoire of 35-40 songs in a variety of styles (classical, jazz, blues, contemporary) before reading even enters the picture!  John also incorporates worship music into his lessons.  The results, in our own kids and in his students, have been amazing!
