Day 1 of 40 Day Fast

Seems like we've been here before. Just last summer we did a 40 day fast. We are now entering into another one. Fasting isn't much fun. I'm already crabby, hungry, and would love a cup of coffee. There are many reasons to fast. Lou Engle called this fast to end right before The Call in Washington DC. We truly believe that event is essential to the future of our country and the ending of abortion. We had hoped for our entire family to be there but it's looking like none of us will. Even Zach will have to opt out of his intern trip because FMA orientation starts that week and they will not let him miss it. We have a long list of things we need to hear from the Lord on during this time. Direction is a biggie, finances, school for next year, any areas of ministry we should serve in.... I feel no freedom to make decisions in any of these areas until answers are released. The cry of my heart is I no longer want the business of life to lead us around, I want our family to know it's purpose and calling and walk in that direction. John and the kids are going to lead worship once a month at the CEC on Sunday mornings. My heart was tickled to see them all worshiping together.

My Fair Lady

Rachel as Miss Hopkins

Rachel just finished up her H.E.A.R.T Theatre production of "My Fair Lady". The show was outstanding. Much thought and detail went into all the costumes, set design, dance, all of it was very good. This is a really good organization for homeschool kids in the Kansas City area. Rachel played a couple of different characters and had about 6 different costumes. She played a maid, Miss Hopkins, and a lady at the ball and horse races. She had to speak 2 different accents, English and cockney. The kids are all responsible for their own costumes. She sewed her maids outfit and we bought 2 gowns on Ebay for super cheap and redesigned them to fit the time period. She totally wants to do another show next year. More of our kids would love to join her Rachel as a servant.Looking "loverly" in her ballgown.

A Visit From Old Friends

Some friendships are like putting on your favorite pair of jeans, they are comfortable and fit just right. Our friends from Willmar, Brian and Melissa Gazelkas stopped in Sunday night and left Monday afternoon. It's never long enough when we visit. Our conversations are always deep and uplifting. They also have 7 children. Their oldest, Nate was back home in MN. They have 2 sets of twins, Kiersten and Bethany, the oldest pictured here and the youngest, Sam and Macy. It was their 4th birthday Monday. Bethany will be attending a 24/7 program in Arkansas. So we will get to see them as they travel to and from Arkansas.

More Weather in Kansas City

We were outside enjoying the nice evening in the backyard. (Actually John was making me give him a haircut. I don't know if he's noticed that I'm not a professional.) Anyways, we were watching deer go by, a baby mouse eating the spilled birdseed from the frisky cardinals, and jumping on the trampoline when we noticed these amazing clouds. Little did we know we're under a tornado watch and thunderstorm warning. These photos don't do justice to the array of colors that were in these clouds. They were pink and lavender.

Spring Dance Recital

This year's dance recitals at Dramatic Truth were performed in the studio and we, the parents came and watched from the sidelines. (Sarah could not participate due to her broken toe. She also had to come home from camp because she's running a fever. Bummer! Hopefully she'll make it back for the last day.) Half of the girls in Hannah's class are also in the Signs and Wonders camp this week. We pulled them out for a couple of hours so they could go to their recital. I'm so proud of these girls. Chloe looks so mature as she's focused on each move. As I was watching the girls do their warm ups I was struck with how disciplined every little move is. Hips have to pointed straight ahead, knees out, toes out, elbows out, fingers bent just right. If everything is done correctly there is such elegance in the flow and posture of the dancers. It's very impressive to watch.
Rachel was the photographer of this event. I love how she caught Chloe in the air.

Summer Camp

Hannah and Josiah went to Signs & Wonders Camp on Monday. Sarah went this year as a teen helper. My only request was for a picture of them going off to camp. The girls couldn't get serious about it, Josiah couldn't see what was so silly. I'm sure they are having a great time. I did get a phonecall late last night, "Mom, I forgot my Bible. Can Dad bring it to me tommorrow?" No problem. The kids eat on the IHOP base so John will see them every day.
