NBC Rejects Pro-Life Super Bowl Ad Educating Viewers on Obama and Abortion
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- NBC is coming under fire from pro-life advocates for rejecting a television commercial a pro-life group hoped to run during the Super Bowl. The ad shows a beautiful picture of an unborn child during an ultrasound and asks what would happen if President Barack Obama had been a victim of abortion.
The commercial, a popular one in recent weeks within the pro-life movement, is sponsored by the pro-life Catholic group Fidelis and its CatholicVote web site.
After several days of negotiations, an NBC representative in Chicago told the group late yesterday that NBC and the NFL are not interested in advertisements involving "political advocacy or issues."
Brian Burch, president of the pro-life group, told LifeNews.com he is upset that NBC officials rejected what he calls a uplifting and positive pro-life ad.
"There is nothing objectionable in this positive, life-affirming advertisement. We show a beautiful ultrasound, something NBC's parent company GE has done for years," Burch said.
"We congratulate Barack Obama on becoming the first African-American President. And we simply ask people to imagine the potential of every human life," he told LifeNews.com.
Burch said NBC told Fidelis that they do not allow political or issue advocacy advertisements.

The kids know how to move at 8:30 am. (BTW, my camera is back. Not sure of the quality of the pictures yet. I need to play with it some more.)

One More Week
Both John and I will teach a class at The Daniel Academy. He'll be teaching 5th and 6th graders a Trailblazers class, I believe it's a reading history based program. I'll be teaching a yearbook class to high schoolers 2 times a week. I've been very busy this past week trying to find a publisher that meets all of our needs. I didn't know there were so many options out there. And these kids are creative, I can't wait to see what they come up with at the end of the year. It'll be good.
John has 1 more week left heading up the Media Apprenticeship. There are many mixed emotions about leaving this position. It just feels like the right time. We want to devote more time to praying together as a family. At IHOP there are different staff designations:
- Full-time staff :
24 hours/week of scheduled prayer room time
24 hours/week of service and team-building time combined - Part-time Staff
12 hours/week of scheduled Prayer Room time
12 hours/week of service and team-building time combined - Operations Staff
12 hours/week of scheduled Prayer Room time
36 hours/week of service and team-building time combined
We were Operations staff and haven't decided yet what our next designation will be. This will be a financial shift for us as well. We were receiving a work scholarship for our time. If you are interested in supporting us, please contact us. (At this time we are not supported by any churches or organizations, only individuals. Any help is greatly appreciated.)
John is scheduled to lead worship once a month for the Children's Equipping Center as well as the Malachi Prayer Room. There may be other worship opportunities coming up also.

Happy New Year
John had an unfortunate incident at the conference. His laptop was stolen from the media trailer backstage. They thought the area was secured but someone knew the building well enough and security found his empty KWLM/Vikings bag in the trash in a men's bathroom on a lower level . The Lord giveth and Lord taketh away. He received that laptop as a gift in May and it had been a real blessing.
There have been so many happenings like this in the last year, it's not even funny. My camera locked up in early December while taking pictures of the girl's ballet. I'm taking it to a shop tomorrow to see if they can tell me what's wrong with it. It's a Canon G7 and it's been the best camera we're ever had.
It's a new year with it's new adventures. Hang on tight....we'll see what's in store.
