That was Then.....This is Now

Little did we know after honeymooning in Door County 20 years ago we would get the opportunity to move there a few short months later. That was then.....This is now.

We celebrated our 20 year Anniversary where we honeymooned. How fun is that? Our house hostess made this cake for us. She is a woman of many talents. More about that later.
While living in Sturgeon Bay we made good friends, Cory and Darla Dahl. Cory has pastored the First Baptist Church for 21 years, wow.

We ended up having our first babies together. The day they checked out of the hospital we checked in....to the same room. That was then...

We made our babies suffer through countless first time parents photo sessions. They were propped up as neither one could sit yet. At 6 months the fun didn't stop. I think she got his hair in that sitting.
They allowed us to do a simulated baby sitting 18 years later. This is now....

They're still cuties.

I Have the Evidence

From time to time I will find my camera with pictures on it that I didn't take. Do they not know that I can tell who's been playing with my camera.....

BTW-Hannah makes awesome cookies, she's cute too.

Here's another culprit ...or two!

If I Could Do It Over Again...

I would choose a new picture. Our family is featured in the Children's Equipping Center's Spring Newsletter. I emailed them a picture awhile ago but I guess I didn't look at it very closely. The Newsletter came out today and while in church the older kids started laughing when they saw our picture. Look at what Josiah is doing. I almost wet my pants when I saw it.

Can You Say...IKEA

One of our favorite stops in the Cities is IKEA. It's just fun.
He's always been a little fruity.

A cup of tea, please.

It's like kids at a playground.

The Grass is Always Greener on the Other Side

We knew it would just be a matter of time before the horses would step over the fence and enjoy the grass on the other side. We did find out the horse farm in our backyard has 14 horses of their own and boards many more. It's hard to see, but the horse in the background is standing with 2 legs on our side and 2 legs in the pasture. Several more horses came up and inspected the situation but didn't go for it.

Beware-Lightbulbs with Theology

We were replacing our yardlight bulb today where we discovered we are now in danger of being raptured.

The Swan

Sophie is doing the swan. She actually touches her toes to her nose. Try that!

Should Have Known Better

Yesterday the kids and I met with some old friends at Hernutt to do an afternoon of swimming. Everybody was covered in sunscreen front and back, except my legs. Today I have red hot legs, only on the top though. Sorry, no pictures. They would remove my blog if I showed such an image.

Large Families Buy In Bulk

There was a special deal on 10lb chubs of hamburger at Hy-Vee this weekend. The kids thought it looked hilarious.

Random Statements Heard in the Nielsen home on Christmas Day

"You need to get permission first if you want to eat the moose poop." (See Video)

"Stop, thief!"

"Another Ableskeiver, anyone?"

"I have a tummy ache and I'm full" (This was at 10am after she had eaten a full bag of Jelly Bellies and 3 candy canes unnoticed.)

"Why do you have to take pictures of everything?" (Josiah doesn't like his picture taken.)
